to Focus Surrey

We offer support in Surrey and surrounding areas for families with children with autism, where parents and volunteers can gain training, impartial advice and support to start their home ABA programme or career, whilst also giving the children a 10 week taster into ABA.

Focus Surrey Saturday Club utilises the principles of ABA to teach social and group skills via a natural environment teaching approach. It provides families with a safe, nurturing, fun and child-centred environment. Children are initially grouped according to their social readiness with the aim of teaching skills with an adult, developing to demonstrating with peers and then within a small group.

Focus Surrey was founded in May 2016 by parents of children with autism, including Susan Archdall the current chairperson and Operations Manager. Focus Surrey was inspired by Focus Liverpool which was set up by 3 mums in the Liverpool area. Read more about the other Focus clubs in our 'MORE' section above.

In May 2018, Focus Surrey was granted official charity status by the Charity Commission (registered charity 1178378). This was a significant milestone for the club which ran its 9th term from September to November 2021. We are incredibly proud to have trained more than 200 volunteers in the principles of ABA and given them hands on experience working with children with special needs with many having gone on to work in the SEN field.  But our greatest achievement is helping children with autism learn to communicate, play and develop their social skills.
